Dennis Lillee's superlative performance

Dennis Keith Lillee is the gretest fast bowler in the history of cricket. This sentiment was expressed by none other than the legendary Indian opening batsman,Sunil Manohar Gavaskar. Of course, fast bowlers, they say, hunt in pairs: Ray Lindwall and Keith Miller, Gregory and McDonald (bowlers of an earlier vintage), Harold Larwood and Woce. Of course, Harold Larwood was involved in the leg theory innovated by Douglas Jarding, the English Captain to briing aout the downfall of Sir Don Bradman -the incomparable batsman. Gregory and McDonald had played for Australia in an earlier vintage and hence I do not have enough material on them.

When ideas are expressed about gret players, sometend to be biased as they favour certain countries. I suppose when great characters are born nature has a way of controlling their deeds. For example, if Dennis Lillee's career was not marred by his back trouble his deeds would have been legion. Of course, he made a miraculous recovery and came cabk to international Cricket in a big way. But unfortunately, his blistering pace was less but he made up for this shortcoming by his guile.

In a World Series match where Gavaskar, Engineer, Kanhai, Zaheer Abbas, Clive Lloyd, Tony Greig and Garfield Sobers (the superman all-rounder) played, Dennis shot them out for 59 runs, which was a stupendous effort. His figures were 7.1 Overs, 3 Maidens, 29 Runs, 8 Wickets.
